| The bed proves that beauty, functionality and elegance can be derived from the common wastes of industry.
The timbers used in the bed frame were previously used in massive crates that carried heavy industrial machinery to its new home at a local manufacturing facility. The timbers were planned and sanded down from their rough exterior to reveal a simple clean lined design that will last. The headboard was created using standard FSC certified 2x4's and 2x6's that were planned and joined to give the desired appeal.
Detail is essential. The bed can be disassembled very easily since only 2 screws are used in the assembly which enables the owner to be able to move the pieces in manageable sections during relocation. Alternative to screws, Oak accents hold the timbers square while dowels are inserted to ensure the pieces are held strong to the legs. |
